Woodland Spring Lodge is a relationship-based program.
We believe that the ability to create healthy bonds is the foundation for successful friendships, family and work relationships, marriage, parenting and principled living. We know that trust enables bonding to occur. At Woodland Spring Lodge we provide a home-like environment based on trust. Our staff members work one-on-one with children in care to develop meaningful relationships. These relationships become the foundation for lasting change--change in their relations with their families, friends and most importantly with themselves.
Small, private environment enhances individual attention.
Woodland Spring Lodge is comprised of two cottages, one for girls and one for boys, situated on 40 wooded acres. Each cottage is home to no more than 13 children and is intentionally kept small to ensure a family style atmosphere. We have found by creating a home environment – routines, chores, family meals, "sibling" relations – we are able to recreate and address self-defeating behaviors that our children struggle with on a daily basis. As we work through these challenges we are then able to provide families with the tools they need to support this positive change back home.
Our small size also allows for more individualized attention in the classroom. Children come to us with various academic backgrounds and experiences. We are able to assess each student's needs and develop an educational plan that best fits their current situation and future goals. Teachers are also involved in cottage life, attending morning and afternoon cohesion groups and working closely with our youth care specialists.
